Hilary & Paul in Tulare, CA

Hilary & Paul in Tulare, CA
Hilary and Paul were married at Hilary’s parent’s home and dairy farm in Tulare, California.
Photos By: Julie Wilson, Arroyo Grande, CA
Event Planning: Bella Donnas, Tanya Bidabe-Fulghum, Hanford, CA
Location: The bride’s parent’s dairy, Tulare, CA
Hilary wore a strapless, silk, ivory dress with a sweetheart neckline by Ulla-Maija.
The bridesmaids wore floor-length, charcoal gray dresses to coordinate with the gray and green wedding colors.
Hilary carried a loosely bound, all-white bouquet of tulips.
A tractor chauffeured guests from where they had parked their cars to the reception to play up the location, Hilary’s parents’ dairy farm.
As an alternative to paper escort cards, Hilary and Paul used ties! It was Hilary’s dad’s idea, because whenever he goes to a fun wedding he puts his tie around his head, and other guests do it too. A tie on the head is a sign of a fun party, so Hilary’s dad wanted to make sure everyone had a tie. They ordered a bunch, attached guests’ names and table numbers on sales tags, and hung them with clothespins.
Following the ceremony, guests mingled out by the pool before moving into the tent for dinner and dancing.
Hilary and Paul’s florist created pomanders for the pool using Styrofoam balls, flowers, and ribbon. Floatation-friendly rings were attached to the bottom of each to keep them afloat in the pool.
Hilary’s family set up a tent on their dairy farm, and the reception took place beneath it. Mini bulb lights were hung throughout the tent and Hilary and Paul mixed up the floor plan with both square and rectangular tables.
A cluster of tin baskets filled with white mums and mini green apples decorated the reception tables.
Hilary and Paul got to know each other when they ended up in the same class together in college in San Luis Obispo. Then, during homecoming week that year, Paul’s fraternity asked Hilary’s sorority to work on the homecoming float with them. The two were inseparable that week and after homecoming, Paul asked Hilary out on a date.

The couple had been ring shopping a number of rimes before they made a decision to drive home with one. Once Hilary knew there was a ring, she thought that every night thereafter would be the proposal night. Paul kept her on her toes for two months until one night, when the two had just finished up dinner at a local restaurant. The waiter brought the check, and Paul asked Hilary to check and see how much they owed -- and that’s when she saw the ring sticking out of the bill folder.
