 I honestly don't think a welcome bag is necessary.  Your guests should know how to pack their bags for necessities, and if there is something they missed, they can go out and get it at a convenience store.  IF you are set on these, don't go too overboard.  Water, snacks, dried fruit/nuts, are good enough.  Lots of times this stuff goes to waste. I'd rather you spend money on a better meal at the reception than to fill my room with junk

 I went to a wedding in sept and recieved a welcome bag in my room. it had 2 personalized water bottles, a box of cracker jacks, ear plugs and a small 1 oz spritzer of lavender linen spray..loved it..
